An excavator turbocharger is an exhaust powered air compressor fitted to the engine. Its fundamental working principle uses waste exhaust gas energy to compress intake air, allowing diesel fuel to burn more completely and sufficiently. This greatly raises power output, decreases fuel usage and minimizes black smoke emissions.

Basic Structure (Three Key Components)

Turbine End (Exhaust Side)Linked to the exhaust manifold, it receives 600–900 ℃ high Temperature exhaust gas that strikes the turbine wheel, spinning the central shaft at 100,000–200,000 rpm.

Compressor End (Intake Side)Driven by the same shaft, the compressor wheel compresses clean air filtered by the air cleaner, then feeds pressurized air into engine cylinders.

Center Hub (Bearing & Lubrication Unit)Fitted with floating bearings and engine oil lubrication cooling channels. It endures high temperatures and ultra high rotational speeds, using engine oil for heat dissipation to avoid bearing seizure.

Working Principle (4Stage Cycle)

Exhaust Gas DriveHot, highpressure engine exhaust enters the turbine housing and spins the turbine impeller at high speed.

Coaxial SuperchargingThe turbine shaft rotates the compressor wheel synchronously at high speed.

Intake CompressionThe compressor draws filtered fresh air and compresses it to 0.1–0.2 MPa with temperature elevation.

IntercoolingHot compressed air is cooled by the intercooler to boost air density before entering cylinders, enabling more fuel injection and higher power output.
