Excavator Cylinder Head Assembly One of the most essential heavy-duty precision parts of an engine, the cylinder head is installed on top of the cylinder block. It seals the cylinders, forms the combustion chamber structure, integrates the valve train and cooling-lubrication channels, and has a direct bearing on engine power, fuel consumption and dependability. Core Functions Combustion Chamber Sealing: It fits closely with the cylinder block and cylinder head gasket, withstanding a combustion pressure of 10–15 MPa and high temperatures of 600–900 °C to keep air, water and oil from leaking. Valve Train Foundation: It is fitted with valve seats, valve guides, intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, rocker arms and camshafts (for overhead-cam engines), adjusting intake and exhaust timing. Integrated Cooling and Lubrication: Internally cast with cooling water jackets (for heat dissipation) and lubricating oil galleries (for lubricating valves and camshafts), it prevents thermal deformation and wear of components. Fuel Injection Installation Point: Diesel engine cylinder heads are processed with injector mounting holes to ensure that high-pressure fuel is accurately sprayed into the combustion chamber. Common Faults Surface Distortion / Warpage: Caused by overheating, uneven bolt tightness or burned cylinder head gaskets, it causes air leakage, reduced power and high water temperature; resurfacing repair is required when flatness is more than 0.10 mm. Cracks: Cracks form near water channels, oil galleries or valve seats, leading to water, oil and air leakage; non-destructive testing is necessary, and severely cracked ones are to be scrapped. Valve Seat / Guide Wear: Long-term high-temperature impact results in poor sealing, valve noise and oil burning; it is necessary to replace seat rings and guides and grind the valves. Injector Bore Corrosion: Triggered by fuel leakage and high-temperature gas erosion, it leads to poor sealing and insufficient power; bushing repair or cylinder head replacement is needed.
