Powered by the engine, the hydraulic pump rotates and converts mechanical energy into hydraulic oil pressure energy. High‑pressure oil actuates hydraulic cylinders and motors for boom lifting, arm extension/retraction, bucket manipulation, machine traveling and upper‑structure slewing. Every excavator movement depends entirely on the hydraulic pump.

High‑speed rotation of the pump’s internal components, driven by the engine, draws in hydraulic oil and builds up pressure. Pressurized oil flows through tubing to drive boom, arm, bucket, travel and slew systems. Oil returns to the hydraulic tank once operational controls are released to complete circulation.

Power Input: The excavator engine drives the hydraulic pump’s main shaft and piston cylinder block to rotate rapidly via a coupling mechanism.

Oil Suction (Low‑Pressure)

Multiple pistons housed in the cylinder block rotate together with it. Driven by the swash plate, pistons perform reciprocating telescopic movement. Retraction increases pump internal volume, producing negative pressure to intake oil from the hydraulic tank.

Oil Discharge (High‑Pressure)

When pistons extend, internal volume decreases and oil is compressed into high‑pressure fluid, which is transmitted to the main control valve through the valve plate and oil outlet.

Automatic Flow Modulation (Core Variable Displacement Feature)

When the excavator works under heavy loads like digging and heavy lifting, the pump automatically raises displacement and flow rate for stronger power. Under idle or light‑load conditions, displacement is lowered to improve fuel efficiency. Servo valves and regulators inside adjust swash plate angles to change piston strokes.
