Excavator Swing Gearbox SH200A3 PC200-8 Excavator Swing Reduction Device Excavator Machinery Parts

The swing gearbox of an excavator is a key transmission part linking slewing motor and slewing ring gear. It lowers speed and increases torque, allowing the upper structure to rotate smoothly 360 degrees.

Core Structure

  • Sun gear: Splined to slewing motor for high-speed power input.
  • Planet gear: 3–4 per stage; revolves around sun gear and rotates independently for torque transfer.
  • Ring gear: Fixed on housing and meshed with planet gears.
  • Planet carrier: Outputs power to drive the lower pinion.
  • Brake: Wet multi-disc built-in brake; spring braking, hydraulic release to prevent slewing slip.
  • Housing & Bearing: High-strength steel housing, heavy-duty bearings, dustproof and leakproof.

Working Principle

Hydraulic motor high-speed low-torque power → two-stage planetary deceleration → pinion low-speed high-torque rotation → mesh with slewing bearing inner gear ring → drive upper structure slewing.

Common Faults & Causes

  • Noise & jitter: Gear wear, pitting, bearing damage, poor oil quality, improper meshing clearance.
  • Oil leakage: Seal aging, housing cracks, overfilled oil, blocked breather valve.
  • Slow/weak slewing: Worn gears/bearings, brake drag, motor internal leakage, wrong speed ratio.
  • Overheating: Oil shortage/deterioration, overload, brake friction, bad heat dissipation.
  • Gear jump/tooth breakage: Impact load, foreign matter, fatigue wear, installation offset.
