The main hydraulic pump acts as the pivotal power core of excavator hydraulic circuitry, utilizing engine driving force to transform mechanical energy into high-pressure hydraulic energy for system actuation. It transmits pressurized hydraulic fluid to hydraulic motor assemblies to enable all mechanical working motions of construction excavator equipment. The majority of modern engineering excavators are outfitted with axial variable displacement piston pumps. Large and medium excavator machines adopt an all-in-one integrated unit combining dual main pumps and a rear pilot gear pump. Constant power control proactively reduces pump displacement under rising load pressure, protecting the engine assembly and optimizing power utilization efficiency. The LS load-sensing system delivers on-demand fluid flow corresponding to actual on-site working requirements and maintains minimal idle displacement for effective fuel conservation. The HP pressure limiting function restricts excessive pump displacement at peak pressure values, preventing structural damage and rupture to hydraulic piping and cylinder components. Common malfunctions involve internal leakage stemming from worn piston assemblies, cracked valve plates or clogged regulator passages, resulting in sluggish machine movement and insufficient power output. A seized maximum-displacement regulator induces engine overload, black smoke emission and sudden stalling during heavy-duty construction tasks. Excessive internal leakage converts hydraulic pressure attenuation into thermal energy, triggering abnormal hydraulic fluid overheating. Air intrusion into hydraulic circuits, substandard oil reserves, and defective bearing or piston parts generate irregular mechanical operating noise. Regular maintenance work includes scheduled replacement of hydraulic fluid and filter cartridges to preserve the integrity of precision internal pump structures.
