• Referred to as a multi‑way valve or main valve, the excavator main control valve doubles as the master switch and flow‑distribution manifold for the hydraulic system. It is the central control unit for all machine functions: boom lifting, arm retracting, bucket excavation, slewing and forward‑reverse traveling.

  Functions

  High‑pressure oil generated by the main hydraulic pump is fed into this valve assembly.

  Control‑handle manipulation causes pilot oil to actuate individual spools inside the valve.

  High‑pressure oil is accurately assigned to matched cylinders and motors:

  Boom cylinder – boom vertical movement

  Arm cylinder – arm extension and retraction

  Bucket cylinder – bucket clamping and releasing

  Swing motor – machine slewing rotation

  Travel motor – forward and backward chassis travel

  Common Faults & Troubleshooting

  • Slow or under‑powered working movements: Inadequate main relief valve pressure, spool wear leading to internal leakage, seized negative‑flow/LS valves. Check system pressure, examine spools by disassembly, clean valve components.
  • Choppy/jittery operation: Marked spool surfaces, spring aging, inconsistent pilot pressure. Refinish or substitute spools and springs, adjust pilot pressure calibration.
  • Hydraulic oil seepage: Aged sealing gaskets, valve body cracks. Renew seals; weld damaged areas or replace the whole valve body.
  • Uncoordinated simultaneous actions: Stuck combining valves, defective load check valves. Clean merging valves and test check‑valve sealing quality.
