The drain plug cover of an excavator distribution valve refers to the protective cap on the outside of the small drain/vent plug of the main hydraulic distribution valve (multi-way valve). It is also known in the industry as a drain pin cover, valve cap or dust cover.
I. Product Features
• Material: Mostly cast iron / cast aluminum, with plastic versions also available;
• Shape: Small disc or cup-shaped, threaded or clip-on design, with a diameter of approximately 20–40mm;
• Installation Position: Located on the side or bottom of the main distribution valve (multi-way valve), close to the spool end cover or oil drain port.

Function

•Protects the drain plug (drain pin).The drain plug is a vent/drain plug with a tiny orifice, used to discharge accumulated water, impurities and air inside the valve. The outer cover prevents soil, sand, stones and iron filings from blocking the small hole or jamming the spool.
•Leakage & accidental contact preventionExcavators generate severe vibration during operation. The cover presses tightly on the drain plug to prevent loosening, which would otherwise cause hydraulic oil leakage, system pressure loss and weak working movements.
•Dust and corrosion resistanceConstruction sites are filled with muddy water and dust. The cover isolates moisture and dirt, protecting the threads and sealing surfaces. It avoids rust seizing and disassembly difficulties in later maintenance.

Daily Maintenance & Replacement
Inspection: Check the cover for looseness, cracks and oil leakage during each maintenance.

Maintenance: Clean sediment and mud around the cover, and fasten it tightly to prevent loosening.

Replacement: Replace the cover in time if it is cracked, stripped or has failed sealing. It is low-cost but critically important. Failure to replace it will cause internal valve contamination and operating malfunctions.
