DH258 Excavator Swing Reducer Gearbox High Torque Hydraulic Swing Drive

Colloquially named the swing gearbox, an excavator swing reducer acts as a vital transmission connector between the slewing motor and the large slewing gear ring. It focuses on reducing rotational velocity and amplifying torque, making the upper equipment structure rotate smoothly over 360 degrees.

Core Structural Elements

Sun Gear: Connected with splines of the slewing motor to receive high‑speed power input.
Planet Gears: Each stage has 3 to 4 gears, spinning around and on the sun gear to pass torque along.
Ring Gear: Fastened to the housing and meshes with planet gears.
Planet Carrier: Outputs power to drive the lower pinion drive gear.
Brake: Integrated wet‑type multi‑plate brake; springs engage it while hydraulic pressure releases it, avoiding reverse rotation.
Housing and Bearings: High‑strength cast or forged steel housing equipped with heavy‑load bearings, dust‑proof and leak‑proof.

High‑speed low‑torque power from the hydraulic motor flows through the sun gear, primary and secondary planetary gear sets to the output planet carrier. The pinion runs at low speed with high torque, meshing with the inner gear ring of the slewing bearing to drive upper‑structure rotation.

Common Operational Faults & Root Sources

Abnormal acoustic noise / Choppy movement: Gear abrasion and pitting damage, bearing breakdown failure, short supply or contamination of lubricant, unsuitable gear meshing backlash.
Oil seepage and leakage troubles: Worn oil sealing gaskets, housing structural cracks, overfilled lubricant liquid level, blocked breather vent opening.
Slow or under‑powered slewing action: Worn gear or bearing parts, partial brake release state, internal bypass leakage of hydraulic motor, incompatible transmission gear ratio.
