DH55 Excavator Final Drives Swing Gearbox High Precision Reduction Gear Reducer Construction Machinery Parts 

The excavator swing reducer, generally referred to as the swing gearbox, is an essential transmission assembly that links the swing motor with the large slewing gear ring. It is mainly designed for speed reduction and torque boost, enabling the upper carriage to achieve smooth 360-degree rotation.

• Sun gear: Engaged with the slewing motor via splines to receive high-speed power input.
• Planet gear: Each stage contains 3 to 4 gears; they revolve around the sun gear while spinning independently to transfer torque.
• Ring gear: Mounted firmly inside the housing and meshes with the planet gears.
• Planet carrier: Acts as the power output unit to drive the bottom pinion gear.
• Brake: Adopts an integrated wet multi-disc brake design; spring-engaged and hydraulically released, it prevents unintended free rotation of the slewing mechanism.
• Housing and bearings: Constructed from high-strength cast or forged steel, fitted with heavy-load bearings, delivering reliable dustproof and oil-sealing performance.

The hydraulic motor produces high rotational speed with low torque and transmits power to the sun gear. Power is sequentially delivered through the first-stage planetary gear set and planet carrier to the secondary sun gear and second-stage planetary assembly. After two-stage planetary deceleration, power is output from the secondary planet carrier. The pinion runs at low speed and high torque, meshes with the inner gear ring of the slewing bearing, and ultimately drives the upper structure to perform smooth slewing motion.

Common Faults and Causes
Abnormal noise / Stuttering: Gear wear / pitting corrosion, bearing damage, insufficient oil / dirty oil, abnormal meshing clearance.
Oil leakage: Oil seal aging, housing cracks, excessive oil level, breather valve blockage.
Weak slewing / Slow slewing: Gear / bearing wear, brake failure to release, motor internal leakage, mismatched speed ratio.
Overheating: Insufficient oil / oil deterioration, overload, brake dragging, poor heat dissipation.
Gear jumping / Broken gear teeth: Impact load, foreign matter entry, fatigue wear, installation misalignment.
