Functions
Excavator main hydraulic pump is the hydraulic power heart powered by engine, turning mechanical power into high-pressure oil to run boom, arm, bucket, travel and swing motors.
Pump Types
Axial variable piston pump is widely fitted on excavators; mid & big excavators use dual combined pump with back-mounted pilot pump: main pump 28~35MPa, pilot pump 3~4MPa for pilot handle control.
Inside Structure
Rotating pistons inside cylinder block build oil pressure; adjustable swash plate controls pump flow; side regulator changes swash angle to adjust speed and fuel cost; valve plate separates oil inlet and high-pressure outlet.
Three Smart Controls
Constant power prevents engine stall on heavy load; LS saves fuel by supplying needed oil only; pressure cut-off protects hydraulic parts when pressure hits limit.
Common Issues
Leaking inner parts or stuck regulator = slow machine; fixed big displacement = overload & black smoke; serious leakage = hot hydraulic oil; air in pipe / low oil = strange pump noise.
Maintenance Guide
Swap oil and filters regularly, block air from suction tube and keep oil at normal height to prolong pump service life.
