R335 Excavator Hydraulic Pump K3V180DT-9C69 Main Pump Construction Equipment Parts

Working Purpose

The hydraulic main pump is the power core of an excavator’s hydraulic system. Driven by the machine’s engine, it turns mechanical spinning power into high-pressure hydraulic oil that feeds boom, arm, bucket, track drive and swing motors to run every single machine action.

Available Pump Styles

Axial variable piston pumps are standard fitment on nearly all construction excavators. Medium and large-sized rigs use a one-piece dual main pump with a small pilot gear pump mounted right on the back.
The two separate pump halves of the main unit run at 28~35MPa, sending oil into different main valve ports so operators can do multiple actions at once. The rear pilot pump runs low pressure at 3~4MPa, only supplying control oil to joysticks and the inner spools inside the main control valve.

Internal Component Breakdown

Multiple pistons inside the cylinder block spin with the main shaft to draw in and squeeze hydraulic oil. Tilting the swash plate changes how far each piston moves, which directly sets how much oil the pump puts out. The external regulator gets hydraulic pressure signals to tilt the swash plate: more tilt means more flow and faster machine movement; less tilt saves fuel and keeps the engine from dying under heavy load. The valve plate keeps incoming low-pressure oil separate from outgoing high-pressure oil while routing fluid correctly.

Three Key Control Features

Constant power control automatically cuts pump output when loads spike to make full use of engine power and prevent stalling. LS load sensing only makes as much oil as needed, running small displacement and saving gas while the machine sits idle. Pressure cut-off slashes pump output down to minimum once pressure maxes out, stopping hoses and cylinders from blowing out due to extreme pressure.

Common Operating Issues

Worn pistons or valve plate causing internal leaks, or a stuck regulator will make the machine slow and weak when digging. If the regulator locks open for maximum displacement, excess oil flow overloads the engine and creates black exhaust smoke. Major internal leaks turn wasted pressure into heat and overheat the hydraulic oil. Air getting sucked into suction lines, low oil levels or broken inner bearings/pistons all create odd pump noises.

Maintenance Suggestions

Swap hydraulic oil and filters on routine schedule to keep dirt from scratching precision internal parts; seal all suction lines tight so no air sneaks in and causes shaky operation; always keep hydraulic oil filled to marked level to avoid permanent pump damage.
